A novel processing scheme for gray-level image enhancement based on the visual model and using the concept of fuzzy sets is proposed. The authors present a model consisting of primary and final processing for gray-level images using a fuzzy algorithm along with the visual model diagnosing operations. The fuzzy operator is used as a tool for both the primary and final processing in the fuzzy property domain. The visual model considered in the experiment is used for prediction of processed picture quality. The reduction of the index of fuzziness and entropy for different processed outputs is demonstrated. Visual perception is visibly improved with this method as compared to the processed outputs generated by other techniques
