Reasons are offered for why engineering management must consider intercultural issues of work and family to seriously consider ideas of quality in global perspective. An interdisciplinary and cybernetic approach to understanding the mutual relationships between work and family is described. Differences in work/family relationships are examined, between Western and Eastern cultures. American and Norwegian systems are then compared.
