A cavity-enclosed aperture-coupled circular patch antenna was used at 29.3 GHz for integration in microwave integrated circuits and monolithic microwave integrated circuits. The design addresses heat dissipation in active antenna applications, surface wave suppression in large phased arrays, isolation between antenna and circuit, increased impedance bandwidth, and reduced back radiation. A prototype 4*4 array demonstrated low mutual coupling between adjacent elements in a worst-case environment. This conformal antenna, should prove useful in many radar, communication, and remote sensing applications.<>
