Comments with reply, on 'Pulse propagation in a linear, causally dispersive medium' by K.E. Oughstun

The commenters describe two numerical methods for calculating quantitative results for short pulse propagation in dispersive media calculated using an asymptotic method in the above-titled paper (see ibid., vol.79, no.10, p.1379-1390, 1991). The author replies that unbeknownst to them, the commenters have provided an independent verification of the complete accuracy of the description of ultrashort pulse propagation in a linear, causally dispersive medium that is afforded by the modern asymptotic theory.<
