The commenters describe two numerical methods for calculating quantitative results for short pulse propagation in dispersive media calculated using an asymptotic method in the above-titled paper (see ibid., vol.79, no.10, p.1379-1390, 1991). The author replies that unbeknownst to them, the commenters have provided an independent verification of the complete accuracy of the description of ultrashort pulse propagation in a linear, causally dispersive medium that is afforded by the modern asymptotic theory
