The various components of the transient response of a distributed amplifier to a step waveform are considered, as are the effects of circuit loss and gate and drain line terminations on this waveform. The predicted results are compared with those of a corresponding baseband amplifier. This suggests that the distributed amplifier has a superior rise time.
