Objective-C can be regarded as a hybrid between C and Smalltalk. It was designed by Brad Cox in the early 1980s in order to bring the power of the object-oriented approach into the realm of large scale software development. The emphasis of the language is on those aspects which most assist reusability and hence productivity.
