The effect of directly modulated semiconductor laser chirping on the performance of synchronous fiber-optic code-division multiple-access networks is investigated. The impact of chirping-induced waveform distortion on the ratio of the autocorrelation to cross-correlation functions of the modified prime sequence codes is presented, and the influence of modulation parameters is also discussed. The numerical results are used to examine the dependence of this ratio on optical extinction ratios.<>
