Basic insulation characteristics of perfluorocarbon for large power transformers

To evaluate performance of nonflammable, high-voltage, large power transformers, the effects of pressure and dissolved SF/sub 6/ gas on the AC and lightning impulse insulation characteristics of perfluorocarbon were studied. With currents of up to 300 A in the conductor of an intercoil insulation model, phenomena relating to SF/sub 6/ gas bubble release from the conductor surface were studied. Relationships between the bubble release phenomena and the basic insulation characteristics of perfluorocarbon were determined.<
