Discrepancies in interruption capability testing are discussed. When the latest editions of testing standards (IEC Publ. 56 and 427, ANSI C37.09 and C37.081) are applied in actual circuit-breaker testing, some shortcomings and lack of correspondence with stresses in actual networks are observed, especially with regard to the characteristics of SF6 circuit-breakers.
