Considers the application of Multiple Criterion Optimisation to IIR digital filter design. A possible scheme for discovering noninferior designs is developed which tackles the question of starting point selection. The stability problem is discussed and a technique for assuring stability is given which does not require the use of constrained optimisation. Finally, a strategy is proposed for dealing with one case where it is clear that nonglobally optimal designs are being produced
