The spin structure and stable condition for the interface magnetic wall in magnetic multilayers have been investigated. The value of the interface wall energy is optimized on the basis of the calculation for application to overwriting by light intensity modulation and magnetically induced superresolution. Direct overwriting by light intensity modulation is made possible by using magnetic triple layers with a power margin of ±30%, a linear density of 0.8 μm/b, and a track pitch of 1.4 μm. Superresolution by using magnetic quadri-layers enables a linear density of 0.3 μm/b, which is more than three times higher than the density for current magnetooptical disks
