Suppression of intra- and intergranular properties by transport current in Bi-based ceramic superconductors

The influence of a direct transport current I/sub dc/ on the diamagnetic response of Bi/sub 2/Sr/sub 2/Ca/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub y/ ceramics as a function of temperature T has been investigated experimentally. The real chi '(T) and imaginary chi "(T) parts of AC susceptibility shift toward lower temperatures, and the hysteretic loss values decrease as I/sub dc/ increases. In contrast to what is observed with increasing exciting magnetic field H/sub ac/, increase of I/sub dc/ does not broaden the transition regimes in chi '(T) and chi "(T).<
