The authors describe a transmission line modelling (TLM) based discrete transform technique suitable for the solution of nonlinear circuits and equations. The nonlinear method presented complements a linear TLM-based discrete transform technique and extends the overall method to both linear and nonlinear circuits and equations. The main features of the technique are that it operates directly and throughout in the time domain and that it is as easily applied as the Laplace transform technique. An extra advantage is that it can be understood in terms of electrical concepts, allowing errors to be assessed and interpreted easily. The method is applied to both numerical and practical problems. Analytical and experimental results confirm its accuracy and stability.
