Analysis of thin rod acoustic wave gravimetric sensors

An analysis based on a perturbation theory for evaluating the mass sensitivity, S/sub m/, for acoustic wave gravimetric sensors made of thin rods is presented. The lowest order flexural, F/sub 11/, torsional T/sub 01/ and longitudinal L/sub 01/ acoustic modes are of interest. The mass sensitivity is found to be -1/2 rho /sub s/a, -2/ rho /sub s/a, and -1/ rho /sub s/a for F/sub 11/, T/sub 01/, and L/sub 01/ mode, respectively.<
