Presents important features of the 1553B Field Bus system and its limitations for industrial applications. The specification for a low cost industrial Field Bus interface device is then discussed as is the relevant design and implementation issues. The device has enhanced transmission capability 62.5 kbit/s over 2 km and is directly implementable in ASIC using a mixture of CMOS and thick film hybrid technology
