Craig, D. ; ENMAX Power Corp., Calgary, Alta. ; Befus, C.

ENMAX Power Corporation in Calgary, Alberta, Canada is embarking on a multi-year project to improve the reliability of their electric distribution system. To this end they are deploying a distributed control system on their least reliable electric distribution circuits to automatically isolate faults and restore power to unfaulted segments. The paper describes the distributed control system, how it was integrated into the utility's existing SCADA system, and the reliability improvements that have been realized in the first year of operation
