As a complex interactive hybrid machines of the technological ages, it is difficult to simulate and optimize the electric power system with limited computing power. Grid computing has emerged as an important new alternate to provide an integrated, cooperative problem solving environment. In the paper, the grid computing system is used as a platform for high performance computing (HPC) and heterogeneous information integration. Various power system applications are decomposed into a series of less complex interconnected task and seamlessly integrated with the grid system using workflow management system. The infrastructure of the grid computing system and the workflow systems used to implement power system applications are presented
