The problem of interconnecting a host multiprocessor architecture with a pool of special-purpose resources is studied. Modeling of a resource-sharing interconnection network is presented using stochastic Petri nets with deterministic firing times and a class of timed Petri net models in which deterministic firing delays are assigned to enabled transitions
