A partnership has been developed and implemented between New Mexico State University at Alamogordo and Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) which allows these two schools to use distance education to offer a degree program, Biomedical Engineering Technology (BMET) in New Mexico using local Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) faculty supplemented with BMET coursework and faculty expertise located in Indianapolis. The BMET content is delivered using Indiana University's virtual classroom, Oncourse. This partnership satisfies a tremendous need for BMET graduates in a geographic location far from Indianapolis. Because BMET programs have their roots in the EET curriculum, this program attracts additional students to EET courses at New Mexico State University -Alamogordo. Students enroll and receive credit from their home institution. Creative student enrollment procedures and tuition distribution generates revenue for IUPUI
