A design of wireless remote module is proposed. It combines RF technology with power line carrier and makes good use of their advantages. The wireless signals are received and then transmitted on the power line to control home appliances. The communication on power line conforms to X-10 protocol, which is the sole protocol of intelligent home network with wide commerce application at present in the world. X-10 protocol is introduced and analyzed firstly in this paper. The structure and work principle of X-10 intelligent home system are explicated subsequently. The following section illuminates wireless remote module from the aspects of hardware and software with emphasis. The result shows that the signal produced meets the demand of power line carrier communication based on X-10 protocol. Although the design is intended for intelligent home system, it is also applicable for similar purposes
