In this paper, we analyzed the distortion of end-to-end video transmission over wireless channels. We proposed an adaptive cross-layer scheme to perform joint optimization of physical layer, link layer and application layer, in respect of throughput, packet error rate (PER) and delay requirements of real-time video transmission. The results show the efficiency of our scheme in improving the visual performance under different channel conditions.
