Summary form only given, as follows. Web-based technologies have played a pivotal role in the conceptualization and realization of ebusiness and e-commerce. The technologies have fundamentally revolutionized ways to analyze, develop and manage the underlying information systems. With the accelerated pace of adoption of Web-based technologies by leading companies worldwide, many such technologies have been serving increasingly mission-critical roles in the current and future global economy. Therefore, it requires a thorough study of many aspects of such technologies that include semantic Web, Web-based services, Web applications; Web enhanced business information systems, e-education specialists, Information security, and other Web related technologies. One important phenomenon that is worth noticing and provides clear evidence of the importance of services technologies is that services account for more than half of the U.S. economy. How should one measure innovation in services? Among other key challenges, it is important to bring the aforementioned aspects synergistically together and develop a profound understanding of the implications of these technologies for enhancing the speed and quality of the adoption of the e-business and e-commerce. The proceedings for International Conference on Next Generation Web Services Practices (NWeSP 2005) provide such a platform where the authors of the respective fields contributed to the enrichment of the body of knowledge of the Web-based technologies and their practices. It contains many interesting articles exploring and demonstrating the ideas on the aforementioned aspects of the Web-based technologies. More importantly, it also provides real world examples to illustrate the advanced practices of such technologies. The organizers of NWeSP 2005 have done a marvelous job in bringing together the volume and presenting it to the research community. They deserve our special thanks for their efforts. The volume of NWeSP 2005 pro- eeding should be an enjoyable reading for both researchers and practitioners who are interested in learning the current state of the art, future trends and illustrative cases of Web services technologies, best practices and their adoptions in real world applications.
