The proram co-chairs welcome participants to Beijing and to HPC-Asia 2005. Since the year 2005 is the 60th anniversary of the invention of modern computer, HPC-Asia 2005 is held in conjunction with Computer Innovation 6016, an event to reflect on the most significant milestones and innovations of our profession in the past 60 years, and to forecast/discuss the trends in the next 16 years. They would like to pay special thanks to the invited speakers, who share their thoughts and visions on the past and future of HPC. The HPC-Asia 2005 Program Committee has received 203 submissions from over 18 countries and regions. The papers are peer-reviewed by Program Committee members and external reviewers. Each paper has at least two reviews. 50 were accepted as regular papers and 35 as short papers. The papers cover a wide range of topics related to high performance computing, such as system architecture and models, system software, algorithms, various types of applications, performance evaluation and Grid computing.
