Numerical Analysis of Optical Phase-Conjugate Characteristics of Four-Wave Mixing Signals in Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers

Numerically, we have analyzed the optical phase-conjugate characteristics of four-wave mixing signal pulses generated in semiconductor optical amplifiers by solving a modified nonlinear Schrodinger equation using the finite-difference beam propagation method. We have shown that the optical phase-conjugate characteristics of FWM signal pulses are strongly dependent on the input pump pulsewidths. It has clarified that the input pump pulsewidth wider than 3 ps is required for obtaining a nearly ideal phase-conjugate characteristics, when the chirped probe pulsewidth is ∼2.2 ps
