This paper has identified a set of mobility management (MM) requirements for future mobile systems. Based on these requirements, existing MM protocols or schemes have been reviewed and examined, including cellular IP, Mobile IP and SIP. Also is considered which of the existing MM protocols could be used for MM in the future mobile environment, and whether a new protocols for MM have to be developed.
