A new LSI chip for digital TV sound applications was developed. A two-channel analog-digital converter, a two-channel digital-analog converter, digital filters, and a clock generator were totally implemented in one CMOS chip by means of digital technology. Each element was simplified as much as possible to achieve minimum chip size and was designed so as not to complicate the peripheral circuits. As a result, a simple and compact sound processing system was developed. The target performance data and the chip specifications are included
