A simple sleeve monopole antenna is proposed for ultra-wideband operation. The proposed antenna is fed by a CPW transmission line. The parametrical effects on the impedance bandwidth have been examined experimentally. For the optimal results obtained in the paper, the impedance bandwidth ratio reaches about 3.4 : 1 (about 2.43-8.16 GHz). Details of the antenna designs are described, and experimental results are presented and discussed.
