We demonstrate the iterative layer-peeling algorithm (LPA) for designing fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs). The algorithm includes explicit fabrication and spectrum constraints in the iterations. The inverse layer peeling, which is two orders of magnitude faster than the traditional transfer-matrix method, is used for grating analysis. We are able to remove all phase shifts in a minimum-dispersion passband filter. The new grating is easier to fabricate with less fabrication errors. Experimental results confirm the designed performance.
