A small size dielectric loaded folded half-loop antenna on a mobile terminal operating at 5.2 GHz is introduced. The return loss and radiation patterns of the antenna are assessed using both finite integration technique (FIT) simulation and experimental measurement. It is demonstrated that the size of the antenna is reduced by 35% compared to the dielectric loaded folded loop antenna (DLFLA) we reported elsewhere (Chiau, C.C. et al., Microwave and Optical Tech., Lett., 2005; IEEE Int. Workshop on Antenna Tech: Small Antennas and Novel Metamaterials, 2005).
