This paper introduces the application and investigation of technical measures for improving power transmission capability in China. These measures include investigating the power system dynamic characteristic and load models by means of field tests, adopting stability control measures such as PSS, application of SVC, FSC and TCSC in network, field measurement and management of generators and so on. Also presents the first TCSC project in China with home-made devices. This project enhances transmission capability with an increase about 33% and improves the damping characteristic of power system effectively
