A novel all-optical wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) signal up-conversion scheme based on cross-phase modulation in a nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM) was proposed and experimentally demonstrated. For the first time, we have successfully realized the simultaneous up-conversion of 16 × 2.5 Gb/s WDM signals in the whole C-band with 40-GHz local oscillator (LO) signal. The experimental results show the performances of WDM signals are in good accordance with a single signal in an NOLM without any interference, and the carrier-to-sideband ratio is greatly related to the optical LO power.
