During recent years, business environment and equipment characteristics have changed and maintenance approaches can no longer provide effective equipment management. The traditional maintenance function is vanishing, driving equipment management into a new, post-maintenance era. Equipment management is moving into an emerging phase of equipment management where the approaches and practices in managing equipment are no longer centered on the maintenance functional setup. Instead, equipment management is achieved by consolidating functional tasks as a process with clear and focused ownership.
