In this research, we demonstrate the feasibility of using application performance data for the purpose of anomaly detection. Specifically, we use the signaling performance of a voice-over-IP (VoIP) infrastructure for the purpose of illustration. We also develop an approach to use the χ2 test statistic for anomaly detection based on application performance data.
