An exact analysis of the full-bridge zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) pulsewidth-modulation (PWM) converter is presented using the state-plane technique. The necessary conditions for ZVS operation and the performance characteristics of the converter are derived in terms of characteristic curves from which the converter design procedure can be formulated.
