This paper presents the current status of Turkey's electricity power sector, efforts for introducing competition in the Turkey's power industry, and concerns with the restructuring in Turkey. The paper discusses social and technical problems that the Turkey's power industry is facing during the transition from monopoly to a competitive market. Recommendations are provided in the paper for achieving some of the objectives in electricity reforms.
