A FACTS device with power system stabilizer's controllers is introduced to enhance power system characteristics, gain damping performance by considering the optimal type and allocating of FACTS with a method to approach to the solution via the proposed microgenetic algorithm (μGA) combined neighboring search using the eigenvalues analysis determined through a multiobjective function. A simplified FACTS device general model based on power command injection concept with the demonstrating four type definitions is provided. Controllers are designed as decentralized control with power flow input lead-lag control scheme. Demonstrations are performed on a single machine infinite bus to validate the operation of FACTS model by the results. Then, the implementation on a three-machine nine-bus power system is approached the optimal control for each point operation. The simulations reveal the results from simultaneous approach with the proposed method compared to the preliminary approach results with μGA to fixed type-location. The optimal type and placement of a FACTS device can be obtained by using the proposed approach, nonlinear time domain simulation confirms the significant improvement of power system stability.
