A novel buck boost constant frequency zero voltage switching quasi-resonant converter with low conducting losses for aerospace applications is presented in this paper. A simple control method based on a single chip two-pulse resonant controller UC3861 is developed for voltage regulation of the proposed converter. A prototype of this converter working in the frequency range 20-40 kHz is developed and the control method is implemented. The effectiveness of the proposed controller in open loop is verified using PSpice software. It is also verified in closed loop for load variations and supply disturbance in experimental setup. The results reveal superiority in using a single dedicated IC for voltage regulation.
