This letter presents a novel approach, based upon Newton's method, for the analysis of the phenomenon of subsynchronous resonance (SSR) in series-compensated EHV transmission lines. The method of analysis will be found useful due to its reliability and high speed of computation. An example is included to illustrate the new approach.
