Laser instruments solve many measurement problems in construction, agriculture, and surveying. This paper reviews the most common application in these fields. Concise descriptions of the several types of laser instruments are also included. Laser applications have been successful primarily due to improvements in productivity. Depending upon the application, these improvements include savings in time, material, energy or water, better use of manpower, or greater crop yields. Greater measurement accuracy is also a benefit.
