A sufficient condition for designing a reduced order stabilizer ensuring closed loop stability is derived. The given system is divided into strictly positive real subsystem N and subsystem R. The stabilizer is designed for the subsystem R so that the closed loop sub-system aided by some feedforward term is positive real.
