A monolithic linear array consisting of ten high-radiance AlGaAs double-heterostructure LED's with self-aligned spherical lenses has been developed as light sources for multichannel optical-fiber data links. The optical power in excess of 600 µW is coupled into a fiber at an LED current of 100 mA.
