This paper presents an extension of the work of Pistor to N dimensions. The stability of an N-dimensional recursive digital filter is shown to be related to the properties of its cepstrum. A procedure is also given for the decomposition of unstable recursive digital filters having a nonzero nonimaginary frequency response into a set of stable single-quadrant recursive filters.
