A noncoherent code acquisition scheme based on the test of LMS adaptive filters' tap weights on I/Q channels is proposed in this article. The test variable's statistic property is presented, which is approximate to that of the traditional correlation test method in Gaussian distribution. In order to optimize the system's receiver operator characteristic (ROC) and test time, we suggest that better ROC be obtained by testing LMS transient weights with smaller step size. The simulation results show the improved performance of code acquisition based on test of I/Q LMS filters' tap weights.
