The general product development literature quotes new product success rates from the development through launch stages at a steady 25% between 1995 and 2004. Cooperation between manufacturing and other functional groups is critical to improve the success of new products. However, integrating operations and development methodologies is often challenging due to conflicting priorities and organizational structures. In this paper, a method for improving the integration of semiconductor operations, marketing, technology development, and product design using the advanced product quality planning (APQP) framework is explained. This work can improve a semiconductor manufacturing organization's design for manufacturability, cycle time, and yield. Specific processes for accomplishing the integration are highlighted including the new coordinating deliverables diagram (CDD). Results from the business process redesign are shared and the specific project management tools and methods used are highlighted
