A new scheme for secure image transmission, based on the combination of watermark technology and cryptography technology, is proposed in this paper. We design a new bi-layer watermark system including the watermark layer and the encryption layer. At the watermark layer, some special information of the image is used to construct the encrypting watermark taking advantage of the md5 hash algorithm. At the encryption layer, the technology of digital envelope is used to ensure the security of transmission. Conclusion from analysis and experiments show that this scheme can predigest algorithm, prevent unauthorized detection and embedding, authenticate the authenticity and integrity of the image effectively.
