An investigation of the performance improvement of a multi access cellular communication network is carried out using a base site transmitter power control approach. Various simulated plots are drawn to check the performance of this approach for bit error ratio (BER) on the basis of position of user in the home cell and various interfering factors in the home cell and neighboring cells. The effects are demonstrated in terms of signal to interference ratio (SIR) and carrier to interference ratio (CIR). A code division multiple access (CDMA) system provides a better performance to combat the multipart effect and allow multiple users to share the same channel simultaneously. The increased capacity of DS-CDMA is a major advantage. But in the case of interference due to adjacent and home cells, the performance of the system degrades, so it is necessary to employ a power control approach to understand the effect of different causes on BER and CIR. It is mainly employed to reduce the near-far effect.
