A new algorithm of fingerprint enhancement is presented. Gabor filter and oriented filter are used to enhance the fingerprint images in two steps. First a dynamic 2-D Gabor filter is used to separate the conglutinated ridgelines, and then a well-defined oriented filter is used to joint the ruptured ridgelines and clean up the valleys. The new method is not sensitive to the offset and the rotation of fingerprint image, and easy to realize. The experiments show good performance.
