This paper proposes a distributed self-configurable architecture designed for wireless mobile ad hoc networks (MANET). In this kind of network, nodes move around varying constantly the topology of the network, so it is necessary to reconfigure the network as time goes by. The proposed self-configurable architecture permits the use of centralized or distributed MAC protocols in MANETs with only slight adaptations to these protocols.
