In this paper, we propose a low-rank pilot-symbol-aided (PSA) channel estimator for multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) systems. Group-wise pilot patterns are also proposed for the low-rank channel estimator. We evaluate the performance of the proposed low-rank channel estimator for various mobile channel environments by computer simulation. It is shown than the proposed channel estimator has better performance than the conventional 2D PSA channel estimator without increase of computational complexity and pilot overhead.
